Lander woman's disappearance on Unsolved Mysteries

LANDER, Wyo. (AP) - The disappearance of a Lander woman will be highlighted by the NBC program "Unsolved Mysteries" on Friday.

Amy Wroe Bechtel, 25, disappeared on July 24th, 1997, while running in the mountains near Lander.

The show will feature re-enactments of the events surrounding Bechtel's disappearance. Fremont County Sheriff David King and an investigator plan to be at the Los Angeles television station to interview viewers who may call in with tips.

"Hopefully it will generate some new leads for us," King said.

Last year, a six-member film crew for Unsolved Mysteries spent four days in the Lander area, interviewing Bechtel's husband, other relatives, friends and searchers.

Investigators plan to renew their search later this spring after the snow melts, King said.

"I just want to make sure we cover all the bases," he said.

Amy's disappearance has already been featured in about six national magazines and on television programs.

Unsolved Mysteries is expected to air at 8 p.m.
